WHAT DO YOU DO IN A POLE FITNESS CLASS?
We start off with a warm up, and then everyone is paired up to go to a pole. First we do some spins, and then some static moves, conditioning and combinations as the main part of the class, followed by a cool down. Every class is custom build around the level of people who are booked in, including absolute beginners.
WHAT DO YOU DO IN A YOGA CLASS?
We start off with an initial relaxation, so everyone can try to clear their minds and bring themselves into the room to be fully mentally prepared for their practice. Following this, we will mobilise all joints and warm up with some sun salutations. We will then move onto the main section of the class, where a variety of different asana sequences will be performed. As we wind down towards the end, participants will be encouraged to reflect on their practice. Some classes may include meditation.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
For Pole class, shorts and a sports bra are best to allow maximum grip, but the most important thing is that you are comfortable. For Yoga/Flexibility, leggings/joggers and a sports bra are recommended, but again, whatever you are most comfortable in is best.
AM I TOO HEAVY FOR POLE FITNESS?
NO!! We pride ourselves on being BODY POSITIVE and have many different women of all shapes and sizes who attend our classes. We encourage students to have a healthy relationship with their body, and pole is an excellent way to build strength, burn calories and tone up (IF that's what you're looking for).
AM I TOO OLD FOR POLE FITNESS?
No way!! There is no upper age limit for Pole. Having taught people of all ages (including people in their 70’s) I can guarantee age makes no difference to your ability. Please note the minimum age to participate in class is 16 years old, this is for insurance purposes.
DO I NEED TO HAVE ANY LEVEL OF UPPER BODY STRENGTH?
Not at all. One of the main reason people attend Pole Fitness is to gain upper body strength. Your strength will increase rapidly when you attend Pole Fitness classes, even if you are starting with zero strength. If you feel like any given move is too strenuous/difficult, we can break it down to make it simpler for you, and then you can build your strength up from there. Both of our instructors started Pole Fitness with absolutely no upper body strength, so we can guarantee this one from our own experiences.
